The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) has placed the political and legal status of Addis Ababa—including its border demarcation with the Oromia region—at the heart of the upcoming National Summit, scheduled for July 15, 2026.
The commission unveiled eight core national agendas for the summit including “The status of federal cities (Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa)”, which specifically addresses Addis Ababa’s legal status, border demarcation, naming of places in the city, working language, jurisdiction, finances, and historical heritage.
