While celebrating its 80th anniversary, Ethiopian Airlines has ordered six more Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets.
“By growing our fleet size with ultra-modern airplanes such as the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, we are further maintaining operational excellence and passenger comfort,” noted Group CEO Mesfin Tasew.
According to the airline, the group currently operates 170 aircraft with an average fleet age of seven years. In its Vision 2040 plan, the group aims to increase its total fleet to over 350 aircraft.

Dominating the majority of its fleet, US plane manufacturer Boeing has long been the primary provider of aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines.
The group also holds equity stakes and management contracts in four African airlines: ASKY Airlines of Togo, Malawi Airlines, Zambia Airways, and Air Congo.
