Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) issued a nationwide call today for fuel conservation and minimized consumption, noting the need to manage available supplies sparingly and prioritize essential needs.
In a social media statement, the Prime Minister urged fuel distributors and service station operators to act accordingly, while calling for a nationwide elimination of unnecessary consumption until supply chains stabilize following escalating tensions in the region—specifically the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
This marks the second high-level appeal from the Ethiopian government since the regional tensions began. Last week, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide issued a similar call for “high conservation” while announcing domestic fuel price adjustments.
