President Taye Atske Selassie stated in a message on X that Ethiopia “consistently supports the two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians live side by side in peace,” as he hosted Israeli President Isaac Herzog for talks in Addis Ababa on Wednesday. Herzog, who was welcomed with an honor guard at the Presidential Palace, met with both the President and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) during his official visit.
In a statement released by his office, Herzog highlighted the deep historical ties between the two countries and expressed his appreciation for the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel, which he described as a “bridge between the two peoples.”
Prime Minister Abiy also noted that he had welcomed Herzog for “productive discussions” aimed at exploring ways to enhance cooperation in “various areas of mutual interest”. Additionally, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Herzog held further talks with senior officials, including Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos.
