Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration announced that Ethiopia earned USD 7.21 billion in export revenue during the first 11 months of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, which began on July 8, 2024.
While presented the Ministry’s performance report to the House of Peoples’ Representatives on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Kassahun Gofe (PhD), Minister of Trade and Regional Integration highlighted the robust growth driven by strong performances in key export commodities.
The revenue figure exceeds the initial target of USD 4.59 billion by 57%, marking a USD 3.96 billion increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The mining sector led with an exceptional 425% achievement of its target, followed by agriculture at 118%, while manufacturing exports grew by 57% beyond projections, according to ministry’s data.

Kassahun attributed the record-breaking performance to comprehensive economic reforms and enabling measures implemented by the government. He also updated lawmakers on Ethiopia’s ongoing World Trade Organization (WTO) accession process, noting steady progress.
