Ethiopia has officially commenced trial power supply from Kenya to Tanzania as part of the East Africa Electric Highway project, a key component of the power infrastructure initiative of the trio.
This regional power connection sets outto supply power from Ethiopia to the two Eastern African countries in consistent and cost-effective manner.
With the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, a multibillion hydro power scheme that generates 5, 150 Megawatts, Ethiopia is positioning itself as a regional power pool, supplying green energy across the eastern Africa region. Initial trading efforts are projected to generate approximately USD 200 million annually.
