Addis Ababa has experienced four earthquake tremors each measured 4.6 and above on the Richter scale. The earthquakes shook the Ethiopian Rift Valley, particularly affecting areas west of Lake Awash and around Mount Fentale, as well as the town of Metehara.
The biggest one measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred on the 6th of October at a depth of 10 kilometers near Mount Fentale. Mount Fentale, a large stratovolcano located in the Rift Valley, is known for its massive summit caldera.
Reports of the earthquake were also received from Adama, North Shoa, South Wollo, Dessie, and Kombolcha. Similar to other areas, no serious structural damage or casualties were reported in these regions.
