South Sudan and Ethiopia have agreed to build an oil pipeline and enhance border security. This decision, made during a high-level meeting on July 6, 2024, aims to improve trade and security between the two countries.
The plan includes constructing a road that will connect South Sudan’s Upper Nile state to the Ethiopian border, passing through key locations such as Gambella-Pagak, Maiwut, Malakal-Maluth, and Paloich.
The agreement follows a South Sudanese parliamentary decision on June 24, 2024, to allocate USD 778 million for the highway project.
