KEFI, a company specializing in gold and copper exploration, has relaunched the Tulu Kapi Gold Mine project in Wollega, Oromia regional state. This initiative was approved by the Tulu Kapi Gold Mines (TKGM) Board, which includes members from KEFI and representatives from the Ethiopian federal and Oromia regional governments.

The relaunch follows the establishment of dedicated site security and conditional approvals from the project’s financial backers.

Early project activities will include community resettlement, procurement engineering, social development consultations, and recruitment, continuing until September 2024.

From October, the project will focus on international procurement and fabrication of the plant, community relocation, site preparation, grade-control drilling, and the setup of the plant and infrastructure.

Project financing will involve finalizing detailed agreements from October to mid-2025, followed by debt financing.

KEFI, which holds a 95% stake in the Tulu Kapi Gold Mine, aims to start production by mid-2026.
