Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has made changes to his cabinet, reappointing Aisha Mohammed (Eng.) as Minister of Defense. Aisha, previously Minister of Lowlands and Irrigation, replaces Abraham Belay (PhD), who has now taken over her former role.
Abraham had served as Defense Minister during the two-year northern conflict.
In another key appointment, Mohammed Indris (PhD) has been assigned to lead the Democratic System Building Center with the rank of state minister.

Aisha Mohammed returns to the Defense Ministry after first serving in the role briefly in 2018. In October 2021, she transitioned to the Lowlands and Irrigation Ministry.
Abraham Belay, an ally of Abiy from their time at the Information Network Security Agency (INSA), now leads the Lowlands and Irrigation Ministry.
