An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation visited Ethiopia from September 25 to October 3, 2023, to discuss Ethiopia’s request for IMF support for its reform program.
The delegation led by Alvaro Piris came to Addis Ababa first and the discussions were continuing in Marrakech, Morocco too at the IMF Annual Meetings.
The discussion reportedly included Ethiopia’s request to a broader debt restructuring under the Group of 20’s Common Framework, an initiative for restructuring government debt aimed at low-income countries.
The team said it noted ‘important steps that have been taken to bring down inflation and stabilize the economy’.
